Mar. 12, 1970 - The Go Cart Club of Horrem(near Cologne) commissioned Cologne artist Klaus Boenninghausen(pictured) to create a memorial statue for the death of driver Wolfgang Graf Berghe von Trips, who founded their sports group. The memorial statue is made out of basalt and symbolizes the tragically short life of the driver. This is only a model of the soon to be built, ten ton, 3.5m high memorial to be erected. It cost 28, 000DM
