Jun. 06, 1970 - The most prominent participant in the opening ceremony of the new Thomas glassworks in Amberg/Bavaria (43 000 inhabitants) was Federal Minister of Transport Georg Leber (r.). The building of this new plant designed by Professor Walter Gropius, took two years, the costs amounted to 14 million German Marks. It belongs to the most modern glassworks in Europe in which glass goods are made in the traditional process as well as in semi and fully automatic manufacture.
