Jul. 07, 1976 - 25th Anniversary of Death of Ferdinand Sauerbruch: 25 years ago, on July 2nd 1951, the German Surgeon Ferdinand Sauerbruch (picture) died in Berlin. Sauerbruch, born 1875 in Barmen, worked in Marburg, Zurich, Munich and Berlin. He developed several important novel operation methods, like the one which uses low - and high pressure at operations of the thoratic cavity. He further developed the amputation stump canalization ('Sauerbruch arm'), as well as the so-called tip-over plastic of the shank at amputations of the upper thigh. Sauerbruch also pleaded for a dietic treatment after operations
