National Team, becomes 65 years old on Sept. 15th, 1980. Schon was born in Dresden, played in the top-team of Dresd.ener Sport when he was seventeen, and was so successful, that he soon was nominated for the National team. In his first international match on November 1937 against Sweden Schon made two goals. He played 16times for the National Team and by this he shot 17 goals for Germany. With his team of the Dresde ner SC he won twice the title of'Deutscher Meister (German Champion) in 1943and in 1944 and also twice the German Football Cup (1940 and 41). His greatest success gained Helmut Schon as the coach of the German Football National Team. 1966 his team became runner-up by the World Championship in England; in 1970 in Mexico the German Team caught place 3 and finally in 1974 in Munich / West Germany the Schon Team won the title of a World Champion. In addition to this he won with the team the Europe Champion- ship it the second in the same competition in 1976 in Belgrade
