Sep. 09, 1968 - Monty To Open New Documents Room At Imperial War Museum: Field Marshal Lord Montgomery of Alamein is visiting the Imperial War Museum, London, tomorrow (Sept 26) to open a new Documents Room. The main exhibit will be the original German surrender document, signed at Luneburg Heath on 4 May 1945, which Lord Montgomery recently presented to the Museum. The other documents include Hitler's Political Testament, which he dictated shortly before committing suicide; the Anglo-German Declaration of 30 September 1938, which Neville Chamberlain waved to the crowds on his return from Munich; and the instrument of surrender signed by the Irish Provisional Government after the Easter Rising in 1916. These documents haven ever been on public display.
