Jan. 01, 1970 - Walter Reder Sufering from an Ulcer. The former SS Major Walter Reder, who is imprisoned for life in the military prison in Gaeta, is suffering from an ulcer and may have to have an operation. He was transferred under escort to the Military Hospital of Celic. On September 29, 1944 Major Reder and his SS men moved into Marzabotto Central Italy, and during the course of five days they shot, burned or butchered 1, 830 people. Twenty three years later the inhabitants of Marzabotto gathered together to decide whether to forgive Water Reder, detained in the fortress of Gaeta. The response was an overwhelming no'.
