Gigantic arch at Ctesiphon, Iraq

Apr. 18 At Ctesiphen, 25 miles to the south of Bagdad stands this gigantic arch which is the widest wingle span vault of re-inforce bickwork in the world. It has a width of over 25 meters and a height of 37 metres. Although the legend attributes its construction to Semiramis, the legendary queen of Babylonia, it was probably constructed in the 4th Century B.
