Jan. 01, 1976 - 75th Anniversary Of The Death Of Guiseppe Verdi: 75 years ago, on January 27th 1901, the famous Italian Composer Guiseppe Verdi (picture) died at the age of 87 in Milan. Guiseppe Verdi became the most important representative of the Italian opera in the second half of the 19th century. His education was mainly promoted by A. Barazzi and was completed with V. Lavigna in Milan. After having been a conductor in Busseto, he composed his first opera in 1839 - three years later he had his first big success with Nabucco'. After that, Rigoletto and Aida followed, two operas which made him famous all over the world. Then he stopped composing for quite some time, during which he was among other things a member of the Italian chamber. Afterwards he composed two more operas, Othello and Falstaff'which were his last ones. From the many Verdi operas should be mentioned: Il Trovatore, La Traviata, The Sicilian Vespers, A masked ball and Don Carlos
