Glass paperweight souvenir for Coronation year
Feb. 26 Souvenirs in glass for Coronation year: Hand-made goblets, millefiori paperweights and stained glass plaques are among the Coronation souvenirs being prepared by James Powell and Sons Ltd at their Whitefriars glassworks, whose history goes back 300 years. Photo shows one of the Coronation paperweights now being made. The craftsmen incorporate hundreds of red, white and blue canes inside a blob of molten glass to give the glittering jewel like effect. In the centre are the letter E II R
