Govenor of Kenya Evelyn Baring 1903 - 1973

Sept. 9, 1937 - Nairobi, Kenya - Kenya's new international gateway to Africa, Nairobi Airport, opened recently after four years of building. International aircraft flew in for the occasion from as far away as England and India and Kenyans themselves made the runway look like Coney Island on a summer's day. The 25, 000 passengers who are expected to use the airport in its first year will find at their disposal of services and even bedrooms. The picture EVELYN BARING, Governor of Kenya, greets ex Senior CHIEF NJIRI who wore his bemedalled monkey kaross for the ceremony
