Jun. 06, 1960 - Gracie Fields Introduce Bowling To The Riviera: Miss Gracie Fields, one of the world's best-loved theatre personalities, opened the Riviera's first Automatic Tenpin Bowling Centre in Monte Carlo on Saturday night. Located in the heart of Monte Carlo, the Bowling Centre features the most up-to- date equipment and decor. Miss Fields had flown especially from her home in Capri to launch the new sport, and opened the Centre by rolling the traditional golden ball down the maple and pine lane, setting into operation the AMF Automatic Pinspotter machinery that resets the pins and returns the ball to the bowler.
