Granite bust of Baden Powell by Donald Potter
Mar. 03, 1958 - Granite bust of the founder of Scouting completed, commissioned by the Dominican Republic government; A fifteen Hundredweight granite bust of Lord Robert Baden Powell the Founder of the Scout Movement - has been completed by Mr. Donald Potter the 55 year old sculptor - at his Blandford, Dorset, studio. It was commissioned by the Government of the Dominican Republic and took eight months to complete - and it is to stand in one of the principal squares of the republic capital - Ciudad Trujillo near the National Scouting Center. The Ambassador of the Republic paid a visit to the studio to inspect the statue - he said he was delighted with the production. Mr. Potter has been approached by the International Scout Hostel, South Kensington with the possibility of producing a 9ft statue of Baden Powell. Photo Shows Dr. Luis T.
