Greek statue recovered from sea on display in Rome

Greek Statues Found In Sea Off Italy: Two magnificient bronze statues of Greek warriors found in the sea by a swimmer off fishing village of Riaci (between the heel and toe of Italy) are on view to the Public for the first time at the Presidential Palace in Rome, It has taken expert restorers in Florence over four years to carefully remove the encrustations of coral and shells from the 5 ft tall statues which are believed to be the work of 5th century Greek sculptor Phidias. Except for a missing eye in one of the statues, they are both in superb condition. Picture shows one of the Greek statues on show in Rome
