Group of men drinking before fight and fatal stabbing
May 05, 1955 - A Killer Has a Drink With His Victim.. Before a Fight Which Ended in Death.. A group of friends sat laughing and drinking in an East London Public House - and a travelling photographer took a photograph of them.. a quarters of an hour later one of the men Reginald Donald Compton (21) of Forest Gate. E. lay dead - stabbed in a fight. James Patrick Herring (23) shop blinded repairer of Forest Gate E. was yesterday jailed for six years and Roy Christopher Neal (18) a machine hand - jailed for four years..The fight arose cut of a dispute over the sales of five budgerigars. A knife - said to have been passed from Neal to Herring - was shown in court..
