Britain's lack of success in international gymnastics is said to be the results of a lack of single mindedness and concentrated training, but now, at last, it seems we have a team who have already started training for the 1984 Olympic. Whether or not they will proved to be single minded, though, is difficult to say - for none of these budding athletes is more than five years old. Under the expert guidance of Jim and Pauline Prestige, parsets of 19 year old Mary, one of Britain's top gymnasts - these children, accompanied by their mothers have a rare old time with the gymnasium equipment at the Ladywell Sports Centre, Lewisham. This is fun to the children, who have no set exercises - yet it is estimated that probably 10% of the children will grow with that instinctive feeling for sport that will make them top world performers.
