Haggis Hunt in Green Park, London
Jan. 01, 1981 - Haggis Hunt in London's Green Park: The first ever Haggis Hunt took place in London's Green Park today. The hunt was open to any member of the public, with 25 haggises hidden within the park. The person who returns the most haggises to the judges is declared the winner. Some of the searchers were dressed in kilts and deerstalkers and carried dummy guns. Among the 25 haggises was a King haggis weighing six pounds and this was found by Mr. Clifford Fowkes, who is Scottish but lives in London. So he was declared the winner. His prize is a trip to Scotland via British Caledonian, an overnight stay in a five-star hotel, a tour of the Glenlivet Distillery at Banffshire, a case of Glenlivet malt whisky and two tickets to the Scottish Night Banquet to be held at the Athenaeum Hotel in Piccadilly, which sponsored the event with Glenlivet.
