Hans Deibl, former Stuka pilot during WW2
Jan 01, 1950 - Pernitz, Austria - (File Photo, c1950s, exact date unknown) As a Stuka pilot in North Africa during World War II, HANS DEIBL was shot down by British airman Cecil Goulding in May 1942. Goulding, despite being wounded in a forced landing, returned to the scene to rescue Deibl. During an arduous four-day ambulance trek together to a hospital in Tobruk, the two promised to meet up again after the war. Deibl spent the rest of the war as a POW in Canada.
