Hans and Sophie Scholl, White Rose resistance group, WW2

Mar. 22 Michael Verhoeven is shooting a film about the Scholls in Munich, West Germany - It's called Die Weisse Rose (The White Rose). A few days ago there were men uniformed as Nazis at the Munich Ludwig Maximilian-University. The reason: At this historic place, Michael Verhoeven is shooting some scenes for his film about the White Rose anti-Nazi resistance group of Hans and Sophie Scholl. Sophie and Hans Scholl were imprisoned following a leafleting action against Hitler's regime at the Munich university and they were executed on February 22nd 1943. Michael Verhoeven isn't the first one to deal with this theme (former plans were stopped by the protest of the survivors). Now, he is shooting his film at the studio - with about 1000 extras, and has chosen the actors for the lead characters because of their resemblance to the originals'. Photo shows Hans and Sophie Scholl who were executed in 1943
