Mar. 02 Petfood Horse-Arrive In Sydney After Shocking Journey. Outcry Throughout Australia-Over Gross Cruelty: The first batch of wild horse-that were caught in the great round-up of wild horses- on the 4375 square mile Bulloo Downs in Queensland-have arrived in Sydney. Four thousand of them travelled in rail trucks for 34 hours without food or water-after having been driven hundreds of miles overland from Bulloo Downs to the railhead in the most shocking conditions. Foals born during transit were trampled to death by other horses. There is a great outcry throughout Australia over this cruelty- and the Duke of Beaufort- Master of the queen's horses-is calling an emergency meeting of the horse and ponies protection society-to discuss the matter. It is claimed by the people who are responsible for the round-up that 10, 000 wild horses are roaming the Bulloo Downs-and that each animal eats twice as much as any of the cattle on the property-and that they roll in water holes and pollute the water. Photo shows. Some of the 4, 000 wild horses- seen in the stockyards-on their arrival in Sydney-awaiting slaughter-after their shocking journey from Bulloo Downs
