Mar. 25, 1960 - DEATH COMES TO A RACEHORSE AT THE FAMOUS HECHER'S BROOK AT AINTREE. Two horses had to be shot on the course at Aintree yesterday after falling during a fantastic race run over part of tomorrow's Grand National course. The shot horses were Suirvale, the favourite in the Topham Trophy race, and Halverstown, a 20-1 outsider. Only seven of the twenty one horses in the race managed to complete the course. At the end of the meeting 16 jockeys reported at the course hospital for treatment or a check-up. Photo shows Halverstown the 20-1 outsider ( in background) falls at Becher's Brock and broke a leg. It had to be destroyed. Bollinger, the horse trapped against the fence escaped injury
