Jul. 25, 1961 - Chaos at Coaching marathon as horse falls during Royal International Horse Show Event - One of the main events at the International Horse Show at White City was the coaching marathon this afternoon. One of the entries was the one from Household Cavalry Coaching Club drawn by four greys. The marathon started at Wormwood Scrubs for the five and a half mile run which ended up at White City. The household coach met with an accident when one of the lead horses - Martini, eight - kicked backward and caught its hind leg in the traces. The horse stumbled, nearly breaking its legs in the fall. Nearly a dozen men were needed to free it. The horse however wasn't injured, but the coach was immediately eliminated.
