Harness Racing - Horse Racing - Dog Racing - Equestrian

Aug. 08, 1965 - Racehorse gift to the Police. : Racehorse Generous Star, winner of seven races and £ 2, 500 in first-prize money- now stabled at Brixton Police Station, is being schooled for traffic by Sgt. Dennis Colton. Generous Star used to belong to Mrs. Guy Janson, and was in Ryan Price's stable until this Spring. But Josh Gifford and Fred Winter were the only jockeys who could handle him. He kept throwing riders. said Sgt. Colton. He fell at Kempton last Boxing Day and Mrs. Janson gave him to the Metropolitan Police because she did not think it fair to risk any more jockeys. Asked about the risk to policemen, Sgt. Colton said, When we take a horse out for the first time, he is always accompanied by an old stager, to steady him. Photo shows Generous Star, ridden by Sgt. Dennis Colton, on duty in Brixton at the week-end
