Dec. 12, 1967 - Vaguely Noble Sold for record 42, 000. A record price of 42, 000 was paid at Tatersall's Newmarket December bloodstock sales yesterday, for Vaguely Noble, a two year old British racehorse. Vaguely Noble's new owners are Dr. and Mrs. Robert Alan Franklyn, of Hidden Valley, California, who entered racing only four months ago with the purchase of five foals and seven yearlings. Dr. Franklyn is a pianist surgeon noted for his work on Hollywood film stars. Vaguely Noble was bought on behalf of Dr. Franklyn by American Dr. Albert Yank, and will be trained in Ireland by Paddy Prendergast. It will race in England, France and the United States next year. Vaguely Noble is not entered for any next year's classic races. The previous record price for a horse at a British sale was 47, 000 guineas for Solario in 1932.
