1974 - Capt. Mark Phillips could Face Cruelty Charge: Captain Mark Phillips could be prosecuted for cruelty to the Queen's Horse Columbus at the Badminton Horse Trails. Animal lovers Mr. John Lockwood, who runs an animal shelter at his Surrey home, and Mrs. Jean Pyke, of Hayling Island, Hants, want to take him to court. Mrs. Pyke has made a formal complaint to the police about the way Capt. Phillips rode Columbus to victory in the three-day event. Mr. Lockwood plane to take out a private summons if the police do not act. He was seeing his solicitor today.
