Feb. 28 It's The Quiet Life For Harold Macmillan... Having reached the grand age of eighty years young, Mr. Harold Macmillan can now enjoy doing his own thing'. No longer is he obliged to attend political functions, nor party meetings, but can be selective about the occasions he joins. Birthday celebrations will be small today (Sunday) with his estate staff joining him at his Chelwood Gate, Sussex home. Later his family will help break a bottle. Several more parties have been planned for him at Westminster and conservative in the south-east area of England, here he had his seat (Bromley) for nearly 20 years, will host a reception for him. But for the moment he is dedicating his time to a forthcoming lecture he will deliver at Edinburgh on one of his favourite topics - Sir Walter Scott. Son Maurice, an M.P. since 1955, is carrying the family name with the Conservative Party and that's the way Mr. Macmillan senior likes it. Although he has no desires to become actively engaged politically again, he finds the challenge of being the minister of power, the most appealing, being the eternal optimist he is....
