De Havilland Vampire jet trainers viewed from above
Mar. 31 Vampires to fly with 16 air forces: Adopted by 16 air forces is the British de Havilland Vampire jet trainer. Powered by a de Havilland Goblin engine, the jet will be used to teach gunnery, bombing and rocket firing, as well as flying. It is equipped with twin inter-connected gyro gunsights and side by side seating. Photo shows Vampires for the Burma Air Force undergo a pre-flight check before takeoff. Other air forces to adopt the trainer are those of Australia, Ceylon, Chile, India, Iraq, Lebanon, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Venezuela, and Britain's Royal Air Force and Royal Navy
