The first air-to-air picture of the latest version of the Hawker Hunter fighter - the Mark 5 - powered by an Armstrong-Siddeley Saphire turbo-jet - to enter squadron service with the RAF Fighter Command. The Mark 5 aircraft belong to No. 41 Squadron at Biggin Hill, and are seen as they rehearse for the station's Battle of Britain display to be held on September 17th. The double armed cross in the centre of the squadron markings on the nose of the Hunter is from the official Squadron badge and is taken from the arms of St Omer, which was the first overseas base of the squadron during World War I
