Aug. 08, 1954 - Lord Russell Resigns Rather Than Suppress His Book On German War Crimes LORD RUSSELL of Liverpool, the 59-year-old Army and R.A, F. judicial advisory, has been forced to resign from Government service because he refuses to suppress a book he has written about German crimes.The book is is called THE SCOURGE OF THE SWASTIKA'. Lord Simonds, the Lord Chancellor, warned Lord Russell that he would be sacked unless he with-drew the book, which is due to be published next week. Lord Russell refused and resignedcfrom his £2, 200-a-year poet as Assistant Judge Advocate General yesterday - the 20th anniversary of bin entry into the military law service.
