Heirs - Heiress - Royalty - Socialites

May 05, 1956 - The Duke - The Girl - And The Ring: Because 19-year-old Charlotte Bowater had the look in her eyes, and because the man in question was the Duke of Kent, and the ring they were looking at looked like an engagement ring, it started stories of a romance sweeping through the West End. It happened because the Duke paused in the centre of Grosvenor House dance floor, at Wednesday night's Rose Ball, to show Charlotte a ring. But when questioned about it, Charlotte, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Ian Bowater, explained that it was just 8a lucky dip prize'. Photo shows The Duke of Kent takes part in the dancing at the Grosvenor House Rose Ball. It was here that the incident of the ring took place and started stories of a romance
