Jul. 07, 1966 - Ships Gather At Falmouth For The Tall Ships Race. Crown Prince Carl Gustav on Swedish Ship. Twenty eight sailing ships are now gathering at Falmouth, Cornwall, for the 1966 Tall Ships Race, which stars from Falmouth on Saturday, and and at the Skaw, the headland at the northernmost tip of Denmark - a distance of about 800 miles. Ships from at least six countries, Britain, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden will be taking part. Crown Prince Carl Gustav of Sweden is a cadet in the Swedish fore-and-aft rigged ship, the Falken.
