Feb. 02, 1980 - Duke Of Wellington Plants Turkey Oak At London Zoo: The 8th Duke of Wellington today presented a Turkey Oak tree to The Zoological Society of London, which he planted at the London Zoo. The tree Originates from an acorn shed by the Oak which grows over the gave of Copenhagen, the charger ridden by the Field Marshal, The Duke of Wellington, at the battle of Waterloo. The horse, a chestnut stallion carried the Duke throughout the Peninsular Campaign and he died in 1836.
