HELEN HAYES made Academy Award history by becoming the only performer in the 43 yea old history of the event to win both Supporting Actress and Best Actress titles. They came 40 years apart, her first award for best actress came in 1931-2 in The Sin of Madelon Claudet and her performance in Airport won her this year's Best Supporting Actress award.
