Hermann Hoffman with unofficial radio station, Hanover

Dec. 12, 1955 - Pirate transmitter Citrone speechless: when he was discovered by the post office of Hanover, Germany, the nightclub-musician Hermann Hoffman had built his own broadcasting station with an old radio and some technical dictionaries. From Celle near Hanover Herr Hoffmann broadcast together with three jobless musicians his own melodies, which had been refused by the German broadcasting stations. The people who had heard Citrone'-station till now, are very sorry, because they preferred Herr Hoffmann's music and programme to the official stations
