Highland 103 locomotive steam engine returns for filming
1894 Railway Engine Makes A Comeback. Making both a nostalgic return to the tracks of British Railways, and also its motion picture debut, is the Highland 103 locomotive, built in 1894, and out of service for almost half a century. The veteran steam engine will be seen in 20th Century Fox's comedy spectacular Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines, which deals with the early days of flying, and in particular the international air race from London to Paris in 1910. The Highland 103 has been preserved in Scotland since its last run, and has been taken to a little used branch line near Bedford for shooting of the film.
