Apr. 18 Hildegard Knef is a painter also: Hildegard Knef, the German actress, author, singer and songwriter, has now proved that she is a pretty good painter also: she has designed an artist-plate for the Rosenthal-Studio-Line. As the motif, Hildegard Knef chose a black horse head on a red ground, on the rim of the plate she has written: Never look a gift horse in the mouth, which is the actress's motto. When Hildegard Knef was handed over a copy of this first painting made by me, which is for sale, she was very much pleased. With her design she has become one of a number of other prominent persons, who have also designed artist plates for Rosenthal: author Gunter Grass, Jean Cocteau, Hans-Werner Henze and Max Bill. Each of these plates are numbered and signed and were made in a limited edition of 500 pieces
