HMS Dreadnought nuclear submarine
Oct. 10, 1960 - Queen launches Britain's first Nuclear submarine, entering the water; H.M. The Queen today launched the Dreadnought - Britain's first Nuclear Submarine - at Barrow in Furness. The craft has a displacement of 3, 500 tons - is 266 ft, long wit ha beam of 32 ft. Her reactor is of the pressured water type-which will drive a single shaft through steam turbines.
