HMS Grey Goose in demonstration off the Isle of Wight

Jul. 05, 1955 - FLOATING TEST BED FOR THE ROYAL NAVY. HMS GREY GOOSE. The famous wartime midget warship HMS Grey Goose has been transferred into a floating test bed for Royal Navy experiments. She has been fitted with two secret experimental Rolls Royce Marine gas turbine engines of advanced design - fifty percent lighter than orthodox engines and taking up twenty-five percent less room. She was demonstrated for the press at HMS Horst, the Gosport Coastal Forces Base today.
