Homer Tomlinson, American bishop, leaving London
Oct. 10, 1966 - King of the World leaves for New York; This man, leaving London Airport for New York yesterday, calls himself King of the world. Or, occasionally, Homer A. Tomlinson. If you haven't heard of him, this is hardly King Tomlinson's fault. For some years he has been travelling the world crowning himself king of numerous countries. So far he claims 101 countries as his own, among them Russia, where he managed to crown himself Czar in Red Square. He also claims a following of 75, 000 people, all of whom he refers to as saints, and most of whom live in his native America. Being king of the world calls for wide vision. Tomlinson predicts that following his coronation the United Nations will move to Jerusalem, that all nations will recognise his government, paying to it 10 per cent of their incomes (in countries that fail to pay up it will stop raining). Tomlinson's problem however is the war in Vietnam. Tomorrow, therefore, he has arranged for one of his bishops to blow a bugle in Saigon to mark the end of the war. It's good to know something is being done
