Trade fell off at the Hotel recently after Southend Cooperation surrounded it with parking maters. Drinkers were not willing to risk becoming engrossed in saloon bar chat of it could cost them a ten-shilling parking ticket. So he landlord, lacking a car park, and installed them along the rear of the bar. Above the bar is this notice Is your car on a meter? Avoid the yellow peril, Tall the bar assistant the expiry time of the meter. She will keep you advised. Customers are now accepting the offer gratefully.
