Jan. 01, 1963 - Death of Mr. Gaitskell The death was announced from the Middlesex Hospital last night of the leader of the British Labour Party, Mr. Hugh Gaitskell. He had been suffering from a virus infection for some days which after first damaging his kidneys had then weakened the heart. The 56-year-old leader had occupied the same room in the hospital as had been taken by Sir Winston Churchill, some weeks ago.
