Aug. 08, 1969 - Husband And Wife Join Forces On The Rostrum: Two bands and two conductors providing a harmonious marriage on the parade ground at the WRAC barracks at Stoughton, near Guildford, Surrey, yesterday. Captain Zara Bowness-Smith, 26, conducted a rehearsal for a concert in Guildford last night given by the combined bands of the WRAC, of which she is Director of Music, and the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Anglian Regiment, whose bandmaster, Mr. Robert Bowness-Smith, stood by to take over the baton. They are the only husband and wife in the Army with their own band, but Captain Bowness-Smith said: It makes a change conducting next to each other
