Ian Smith, Rhodesian PM, in Pretoria for talks
Sep. 09, 1976 - Mr. Ian Smith Meets Dr. Kissinger in Pretoria, South Africa. Major movement on the Rhodesian problem appeared to have been achieved last Sunday, after Dr. Kissinger and Mr. Ian Smith, meeting for the first time, had spent eight hours in close consultation in Pretoria. Dr. Kissinger announced that he was hopeful that progress was being made towards a majority role solution in Rhodesia. Mr. Vorster, the South African Prime Minister joined the final 3 1/2 hours of the Kissinger/Smith talks at Libertas, his official residence in Pretoria.
