Aug. 08, 1976 - Ice sculptors keep cool in Tokyo: Tokyo police who obviously appreciate art, banned traffic from Ginza street, the principal thoroughfare in the city in order to let chefs of restaurants in the area compete in the ice carving contests, so that the public could see them at work shaping blocks of ice into masterpieces with saws, chisels, and hammers. Over 100 chefs took part, and although they were only allowed 30 minutes to complete their models in ice, they produced some marvellous work of birds, seals, Bambis, Donald Ducks, etc. The rays of the sun began to melt the masterpieces into shapeless masses of ice
