May 05, 1931 - Gandhi leaves for India: Mahatma Gandhi, the famous Indian Nationalist leader, left Victoria Station this mornign for Paris on his way to India-and home. Although Mr.Gandhi's arrival and the first two weeks of his visit caused stiry throughout the country, his going was watched by a comparatively small collection of people, nearly all those present being personal friends of the Mahatma. Clothed in his famous blanket and loin cloth, which he has steadfastly worn throughout his stay in England despite the cold winds and rain, he leaned out of the carriage window and smiled happily, hie is reported to have stated that he has enjoyed his visit immensely, byt we think he is glad to be going back to the sunshine and warmth that is India.
