Oct. 10, 1958 - Indian Navy's New Frigate Launched At Cowes. Coconut Takes Place Of The Champagne: The I.N. Kuthar - new frigate of the Indian Navy was launched at Cowes, I.O.W. today by Mrs. Usha Rajwade, wife of Brigadier D.G.R. Rajwade, Military Adviser to the H.C. for India in the United Kingdom. A coconut was used in place of the usual champagne. The vessel is 310 ft. in length and has a beam of 33 ft. Photo shows Mrs. Rajwade about to pull the lever which releases the coconut - at the launching ceremony at Cowes I.O, W, today
