Mar. 22 West Bengal Facing Famine Condition: The state of West Bengal in India is facing near famine conditions. According to Various newspaper reports, destitute are trying to change their food habits to boiled grass and different types of leaves, and a large number of people are said to have died from starvation or malnutrition. Recently the state Government has declared their decision to open gruel Kitchens and cheapo canteens in eight different districts for the destitute. Before that 24 Parganas District police pensioner to co-operate with the local People by raising funds to start three gruel kitchens at Falta, Laldwip and Namkhann of South 24 Paraganas, where Hindus and Muslims feed together forgetting their religious beliefs.
