Indian High Commissioner with regimental drummers
Dec. 12, 1962 - Tiger and Panther Skins From Mr. Nehru - For The Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment. At a ceremony aboard the T.S. Oxfordshire at Southampton - five tiger and panther skins were handed over by Mr. M.C. Chagla, the Indian High Commissioner in London - on behalf of Mr. Nehru - to the 1st. Bn. Duke of Edinburgh a Royal Regiment. They were sent at the instigation of former Sgt. Major Leslie Hodges - for use by the Regimental drummers - as he thought the original skins were getting rather tatty'.
