Apr. 18 DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF KUCHING AND IT'S SURROUNDINGS: Kuching, the chief town of Sarawak- former British Colony in NW Borneo and a state in the federation ofMalaysia since 1963 - still reverberates with the legends of the past and reminiscences of the wild men of Borneo immediately spring to mind but civilization has made tremendous strides in the territory which in 1888 was placed under British protection. Head hunting is now but a piece of outdated fiction and Kutching prizes itself on it's modern educational facilities, especially training College to provide teachers for the outlaying parts of Sarawak. As yet there is no University in the Borneo territories. Our pictures show the old and the new influences which make up present day Kuching and it's Surroundings
