President Sukarno staged a reunion for some of his old fighting comrades of the 1945 revolution against the Dutch colonists, at a reception in their honor held at the Merdeka (Freedom) Palace in Djakarta. Photo shows :Sukarno greets Bung Sutomo, one of the leaders of the fight against the Dutch, who led thousands of youths in Surabays to battle British tanks and Gurkha troops, and killed a British general on November 10, 1945.today this date is commemorated each year as Heroes Day
