Sep. 09, 1971 - GENERAL ASSEMBLY OPENS ITS TWENTY-SIXTH REGULAR SESSION: ELECTS ADAM MALIK OF INDONESIA AS PRESIDENT. The General Assembly, opening its twenty-sixth regular session this afternoon, elected Adam Malik, Foreign Minister of Indonesia, as its president, and amitted three new Member States: Bhutan, Bahrain and Qatar.
